More about Caitlin

I’m Caitlin Kobrak.

A Digital Marketing Executive at DRPG - a global creative communications agency - where I work as part of the PR and Marketing team, focusing on DRPGs own internal marketing. I’ve over 10 years of experience in the events industry.

I previously worked at George P Johnson - a global brand experience agency - where I led all the social media campaign work we produced for our UK clients. Building the social strategy, creating content ideas, copywriting as well as managing the creative, community management and social team. I had been at GPJ for 6 and half years, working with B2B technology clients that include; Cisco, IBM, Equinor and Mozilla.

Prior to my current role at DRPG, I’ve worked within programming, strategy and planning, digital and marketing teams.

I studied Events Management at the University of Gloucestershire, and during this time I started a blog aimed at students studying (or planning on studying) events as there was a distinct lack of unbiased information available in 2011. Aptly named ‘I’m a Damn Student, What Do I Know? I wrote it for 8 years in which time it won a UK Blog Award in 2014 and was highly commended in 2015.

In my final year at University, I took part in the Eventice – an Apprentice-style competition that had 15 final year event students competing to win two industry jobs. Whilst I didn’t leave with a graduate job, it was here that I was first introduced to GPJ and was the start of a relationship that saw me join the team in late 2014.

In 2016 I co-founded a not-for-profit initiative Event First Steps that is focused towards those starting out in the events industry. We produce events and content that help industry newcomers forge their own career path. And it is this work that allows me to continue my passion of helping those starting out.

I’ve also seen some industry recognition;

  • In 2015 named one of the 30 under 30 by Exhibition News.

  • In 2017 featuring in Event Magazine's 30 Under 30 list.

  • In 2017 named as number 70 in the annual list of the 100 most influential people within the Industry.

  • March 2020 I was listed by C&IT magazine as one of their A-List 35 under 35.

  • in 2022 Event First Steps won the Silver award for Best Diversity and Inclusion at the M&IT awards.
